WWM Civils was appointed by WW Martin Ltd to aid the development of new planned bus facilities for Stagecoach. This £1.6million groundworks package consisted of foundations being constructed, extensive drainage works, and the installation of attenuation tanks, a new bus wash and MOT pits.
The remediation of contaminated land proved difficult due to the variety of contaminants found from historic use of the land; Japanese Knotweed, asbestos, and clinker were all among the items encountered. However, working with a suitable remediation strategy and support from a local haulier - who disposed of inert material locally for re-use - all materials were transported and disposed off at the correct land-fill or deep burial sites.
The state-of-the-art site includes new offices, extensive and sufficient space for the overnight parking of buses, a bus-wash facility, and excellent bus servicing and maintenance facilities - all which are large enough to accommodate double-decker buses. This project was successfully completed and handed over to programme at the start of August 2016.
