Description

The works at Sittingbourne Community College involved the construction of a new 3 storey teaching classroom block and a 2 storey extension to the existing school to provide a new science block and generally to create new and improved teaching facilities for the 1100 plus pupils at the school and sixth form.

Involved from the very outset of this project, our works included piling, installation of pile caps and ground beams and floor slab construction as well as the construction of the retaining walls to the new buildings.

We were also involved in the extensive enabling works in order to create safe access to the school for the pupils during the construction work. During the early stages of the works a new designated coach/bus park and associated external works were delivered to improve access to and from the school for vehicles, aiding safety but also reducing congestion on the local residential roads.

Detailed traffic management plans were utillised to carry out the Section 278 highways work working alongside KCC and Kent Highways as an approved contractor on a busy section of the main A2 highway into and out of Sittingbourne.
