Description

This contract was for a new multi-million project for Gomez 4 (G4), one of the country's largest produce companies, servicing both the leading supermarkets and non-multiple customers.

After 12months of construction on one of the largest projects WWMC have undertaken, the works were handed over in November 2018

The project involved the delivery of new drainage and car parking facilities for the state of the art warehouse. Concrete retaining walls were constructed to allow a ramp for lorries to access the dock levellers as the floor levels were 4 metres in above the ground to ensure the new G4 building was level with the G2 packhouse.Works on site included the removal of 18000m3 of material to facilitate the new warehouse foundations, 500m3 of concrete placement and circa 3000m3 of service trenches dug to divert the existing services running through the site to the surrounding buildings.

The works to the new warehouse and additional facilities at the distribution centre will be delivered on the site of Gomez's current headquarters, which is one of the busiest distribution and consolidation centres in the UK. To ensure that the works do not impact on the operation of the busy site, we have worked closely with the client team to develop extremely detailed site logistics plans to ensure the smooth operation of the existing facilities.
