WWM Civils were selected to undertake the groundworks on this project at the Chatham Dockyards in Kent. The overall project provided a new visitor building and visitor entrance as part of the conservation and preservation of the "ship beneath the floor" archaeological discovery.
New pavement finishes were added to a cafeteria area, as well as the reinstatement of the existing Historic Dockyard granite sets and channels to the perimeter of a refurbished building.
These works were carried out in close communication with the client’s representative to ensure compliance with the specification and quality expected in the Historic Dockyard surroundings.
On numerous occasions, we were congratulated on providing a high standard of quality finishes in conjunction with the existing pavement interfaces. The success of the project was recognised at the Kent Design and Development Awards 2016, where the project won the award in the Conservation category.
